Car Rental Service FAQs

XTREME CAR RENTALS

What do I need to know before renting a car? Get answers to this and other FAQs on our car rental service to the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, ON.

You can simplify and remove some of the common frustrations people report when signing up for car rental by knowing what to bring.

As anywhere else, you need to be a licensed driver to rent a car. In Ontario, you also have to be at least 23 years old and have no less than 12 months of driving experience to book a rental car. Your driver’s license, which must bear your photograph, has to be valid for the entire rental period.

We also require an acceptable means of payment. We Only accept major credit cards. Make sure the credit card is in your name.

We bill car rentals in 24-hour cycles. This means your rental day ends 24 hours after the specific time you picked up the car. We do not use dates to calculate rental days, so you will need to factor that in when deciding when you intend to drop off the vehicle.

Yes, you can. At Extreme, we understand that not everyone will need to hire a car for a week. Many of our clients rent cars for trips and errands that won’t last longer than a day.

To meet all your car rental needs, we, therefore, allow one day and other short term rentals subject to availability of vehicles. Contact us beforehand to reserve your short term rental.

The car rental fees we will offer you depend on the type of vehicle you prefer and the scheduled duration of your rental. You should expect to pay more for larger and luxury vehicles and less for small utility cars.

Your rate also depends on where you pick up your rental car. If it’s at an airport, the airport authority may stipulate that we add a concession fee to the rental. You may also pay a higher fee if you are under or over a certain age.

There are other surcharges you may have to pay for the rental car’s insurance, fuel, and for dropping the rental car at a location that’s different from where you picked it up. As well as sales tax, factor in all these fees and charges when budgeting for your car rental.

We charge customers a refundable deposit when renting a car from us to cover any damage that may happen to the car while it’s in your possession. The amount you pay for the deposit depends on the type of car you are renting as well as the fuel costs.

You may have to pay an ‘excess’ if the cost of the damage exceeds the cost of repairing the damage. If you return the car in the same condition it was when you picked it up, your deposit will be refunded in full.

While insurance may cover the vehicle’s damage and save your deposit, most policies have limitations and may exclude some events from coverage.

As part of our standard car rental service, we clean our rental cars after every drop-off to ensure our clients have the best possible experience with them. This is regular cleaning that we don’t charge clients for.

But if you return a car with so much dirt and grime that we have to have it professionally cleaned or valeted, we will have no option but to charge you a cleaning fee. As a general guide, expect a cleaning fee if you return your rental car in a condition you would not rent it in.
